Page not indexed on Google

You have a website but one of your pages doesn’t appear in search results. Here’s how to check if the page is present in the Google index.

Check the indexation of my site:
To know if your page is indexed on Google, use the command site: from Google in order to see the main pages on your site which are indexed in the search engine.
For example, let’s pretend your site is ulule.com. All you have to do is type in the search engine: site:ulule.com

Usually (fingers crossed) you will obtain the number of pages indexed.
If you don’t have any results, it’s bad news; your site is not part of the Google index, and this explains why your page doesn’t appear in the search results.

Check if my page is indexed:
To do this you will have to know the url address of your page. Then repeat the previous operation by entering the whole of your page’s address in the search engine
Take for example the project voisinoscope page.
Type in google site:ulule.com/le-voisinoscope/

I don’t have any results in google:
If you don’t find your page, then ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is my page new?
If yes, be patient; the time it takes to index pages can vary.
  • Have  I offered my site to Google ?
You can suggest your site to google here
  • Have I created a sitemap for my site?
A sitemap facilitates the navigation of robots on your site.
  • Is my file, robots.txt , well configured?
The file robots.txt enables the authorisation (or denies access) of robots on different parts of your site.
  • Is my page identified with a page which already exists on the web?
Duplicated content is penalised and strongly prohibited by Google.

Nope, you are not penalized.

Your site is indexed. In fact you are in top result with the kephrase "well configured robots.txt". And the competition is 908,000.
