Ouch!
Four days ago, Chris Bryant, a former British minister, said the French language was "useless" now. It wasn't (totally) an insult, as he made reference to the fact that French isn't used that much for diplomatic matters and is not very useful to engage with new developping countries.
Well... it seems that English is losing the hype factor, too. The Barcelona Reporter stated today that Spanish was now the second most spoken language in the world, after Mandarin.

English stills hold some gold medals, as it is the first language of international communication (Spanish being the second) and the first language used over the internet (Mandarin is the second, Spanish is the third)...
And it seems that this trend won't change for a while now.
Well, you might want your kids to stop listening to Shakira in english, now... After all, isn't "Loba" a really nicer word than "She Wolf" ?
